What's your favorite Transvestite Musical???

Here's my list:

3."Priscilla Queen of the Desert"
I just watched this movie for the first time today and must say that in the category of "Transvestite Musicals" it is by far a distant third. Though the images and costumes it cannot compare to my top 2 favorites. Nonetheless here are some screen shots of the movie to feed your inspiration juices...

2."The Rocky Horror Picture Showt"
Every July, my town has a showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in a our theater. My sister, who was around 13 at the time and dressed like Marilyn Monroe, got to go on stage for the costume contest but was beat by a gentleman named Big Gay Joe.
Here is my BFF Jean Paul Gaultier and I at a his presentation of the film in Paris, 2010. Having a 2 minute conversation in Franglais does make us BFFs by the way... He said that it was one of his biggest inspirations.

1."Hedwig and the Angry Inch"
Though Rocky Horror is a classic "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" will always conjure up a bit of nostalgia within me. My guyliner, male polish wearing boyfriend and I had dubbed this our movie. We also made the song "Origin of Love" from the soundtrack our song. In fact (having watched it roughly 10 times) I would consider this to be one of my favorite movies of all time! Great music, great costumes, great story, and the most fabulous makeup.

Watch "The Origin of Love"

Rebellion

I miss Paris to death. I am always thinking about it and I am still inspired by the pictures and memories. The Imitation of Christ Spring/Summer 2012 collection was based off my nostalgia! When I think of the 1920s, I think of Paris of course, which makes it my favorite decade by far. I also love the 20s because I consider it to be the most rebellious of all the decades! Think about it... look at images of the women in pre- 1910 and then look ten years later. Could you possibly imagine the feeling of a sudden shift in fashion like that. Women were released from the corset. Their skirts were shortened and their hair was cut. The young generation was coming out and taking life as their own. We have Ms. Coco to thank for that. (For now I leave under the table her severe anti-semitism and bitter personality.)

These are images I found in an ancient Vogue in my school library from the late 1920s. It is so old they have someone assigned to watch over you if you want to look through it

We also need a little Lautrec of course... and this might be my favorite piece of his

Revival

My blog is back up after a short pause of only 2 years. Paris was amazing and now I am in New York City! I am studying fashion at Parsons New York and loving every second of it.

My favorite time of the year is here! Fashion Week! I am currently assisting Ms. Tara Subkoff for her brand "Imitation of Christ". She is a sweet, generous and incredibly talented woman who I have learned so much from. We worked so hard together to make the show happen.

Yes, this is me in the second picture and in the background of Tara Subkoff in the first. This was a 2AM decision from Tara the night before to put me in the show... It took a lot of convincing along with a mini panic attack, but I am very glad I did it!

Lydia Hearst was our beautiful bride in this wedding themed runway show along with Miles Fisher as the groom. The corset and part of the skirt of the dress are actually made of glass!

We also had the one and only Carly Stains, my stepsister, as a model.

Paris Adventure

These past 2 weeks have been so busy! I am finally in Paris and I have been exploring it everyday with my new friends. I love it here. Its so me! I do not think I could ever leave this place.

Im am living in a dorm room of another school on a floor with about 10 other parsons- paris girls. Everyone is awesome. My roommate is just like me (messy, but we do like things clean and we are willing to put a bit of an effort toward that, but if something else happens to be more important, then... it will be more important) (I apologize for my rambling). Right now our room is rather messy, but WE'RE ARTISTS! And I do not know how we manage to come out of there every morning looking fabulous, but we do ;)

So.... "THE FABULOUS ADVENTURES OF ZOE ROSENBERG"....begin!

Oversleep and burn

It was a long night

A very classic photo of my friend's boy friend, Nathan. He borrowed this shirt from a play they had at school.
